Description

Jerusalem, et Suburbia eius, 1588, by Georg Braun and Franz Hogenberg, after Christian Adrichem, from Civitates orbis terrarum: Liber quartus vrbium præcipuarum totius mundi, Cologne, Germany Ever in flux, Jerusalem has long been a cradle of history where each labyrinthine alley in its walled old city offers a new discovery—true today and on this pictorial map depicting events from the time of Christ. Look closely and you'll find him in purple robes at points across the map: at the Last Supper, in the Garden of Gethsemane, carrying the cross on the Via Dolorosa, and at the site of crucifixion (then northwest of the city but well within the walls today). In all, more than 250 numbered scenes dot the topography of Jerusalem and its suburbs. The map was printed as part of cleric Georg Braun's endeavor to map the cities of the world, the six-volume Civitates orbis terrarum. Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, our 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers. WARNING: Choking hazard—small parts. Not suitable for children under 3 years. - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £14.99
