Description

Little bee-eaters Photograph by Art Wolfe Little bee-eaters (Merops pusillus) are the smallest bee-eaters in sub-Saharan Africa. They feed on flying insects including bees, wasps, and hornets, which they consume after killing them by hitting them on branches. (This action also removes the stinger.) At night, they roost in groups of up to fifteen birds in a row. Their natural habitats are savannah, woodlands, and near rivers, and they prefer some open ground with low-lying perches. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this product supports the Sierra Club's efforts to preserve and protect the planet. - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £2.28
