Description

Georgia O'Keeffe created images of powerful simplicity. She invited viewers to see the familiar in a new way, often enlarging the delicate structure of a flower to fill an entire canvas or distilling a vast desert landscape into a few details. Her desire "to create an equivalent for what I felt about what I was looking at" fueled her abundant creativity and distinct mode of expression. Born in Wisconsin in 1887, O'Keeffe spent years in New York with her mentor and husband, photographer Alfred Stieglitz. When Stieglitz died, she moved permanently to New Mexico, where the high desert's rich palette and undulating topography proved constantly inspiring; she continued painting until a few weeks before her death, in 1986. Contains 5 each of the following images: Poppies, 1950 Calla Lily Turned Away, 1923 Bleeding Heart, 1932 Black Hollyhock Blue Larkspur, 1930 - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £14.99
