Description

Rosalind Wise (British, b. 1949) is inspired by all that nature has to offer and has an affinity for painting scenes of garden borders. "It is the contrast in tones and color, their vibrancy, energy, and beauty that I wish to encapsulate. It is being lost in that moment of looking when all one's senses are heightened, when one feels truly alive and alert to all the power that nature holds for us." Wise often makes quick plein air sketches during her morning walks, recording the relationships of plants to one another. Later, in her home studio, she works from her studies, collected specimens, and photographs to complete her oils on canvas, typically four to five feet across. A native of South Wales, Wise taught painting in Bristol and London before she moved to Gloucestershire and began to paint seriously. Her observant eye and love of the natural world are clearly evident in the four fresh, vibrant paintings of garden borders reproduced in this notecard assortment. Contains 5 each of the following images: Garden Border with Kniphofia and Crocosmia Garden Border with Seedheads, Salvia, Knautia, and Grasses Garden Path through the Hot Border Garden Border with Monarda, Heleniums, and Lobelia - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £14.99
